Hines continued to be part of the Kustom scene quietly for many years until he made an appearance on Jesse James' Monster Garage. He was also known as the "Godfather of Hydraulics" for his early work in full Hydraulic systems. Bill would often take in sub contract work from Barris without anyone's knowledge. He rented his own building and began doing side work as Bill Hines Kustom Auto, which he operated for over 2 1/2 decades. The West Coast pull was too strong and Bill Hines moved back to Cali to work with George Barris of Barris Kustoms.
